About the Cat Distribution System

Yesterday I watched a reel about the cat distribution system, which made me remember this book: We’ll Prescribe You a Cat.

A cat a day keeps the doctor away

This book basically took the cat distribution system concept, along with cats’ healing power, and took it to the next level. The characters in this book have different conflicts and problems in their life, and yet the ‘doctor’ prescribes them a cat – literally to take home and take care of.

A mysterious clinic that would appear only for those who need it. They faced struggles and ended up with a unique treatment by getting a cat as their medicine.

This got me thinking: not in a million years would I have thought that, when someone (or even myself) has problems in life, the solution would be to take care of another creature. I am still learning to take better care of myself at this age (don’t we all tho?)

Reflecting on this, sometimes I tend to think that the solution to my problems is a certain way although actually there are other ways that I did not know would works too. And in this book, the answer is definitely a cat.

The journey of taking care of your medicine

This also reminds me of the story of Bob and James Bowen. James, who was a drug addict and barely surviving in a cold London, ended up getting his life together because the little furry ball of Bob showed up in his life. We’ll get deeper into this in another post, okay!

In this Japanese book by Syou Ishida, I can relate to the confusion of these patients who are trying to figure out their lives, but have to take care of a cat. They’re not even had any experience in taking care of a pet before. But that is how life works. You just figuring it out as you go, and with these cats in their life, slowly they got an answer for their problems.

A book about the human-animal bond

I loveeee cats, so when I saw this book, I couldn’t help but buy it immediately. There are 5 patient stories in this book about people who were healed because a cat was in their lives. At that time, when I read it, I didn’t have a cat. I do miss the feeling of having a pet in my house (I used ot have a cat and 2 dogs back when I was still in junior high school). But of course, I wasn’t even thinking of having another one since I was just moving to a new house and still figuring life (as always, duh hahaha).

Little did I know the system works for me earlier this year when a kitten followed my brother and me on our way back home. I even said to my mom, ‘Let’s just provide food and a box, but bring it outside,’ – but she and my brother insist on taking care of it since it was so little (and I know for sure: very cutee!!)

His name is KiiKii, and he has very fluffy fur!
Now he’s already big and he purrs a lott 💕*cat’s purring lowers blood pressure, reduces stress, and triggers the release of calming, mood-boosting

What I can say is that life has surprises for you, both good and bad. And sometimes, you’ll find newfound hope in the form of a furry friend.
